Autochthonous rhinosporidiosis in a dog in the UK.
- Abstract
The article discusses the case of a dog which was infected with rhinosporidiosis, a disease caused by infection with the organism Rhinosporidium seeberi. The dog was reported with a history of sneezing, pruritus and unilateral epistaxis in Merseyside, England. Histological examination has shown the presence of sporangia within reactive granulation tissue. Its findings were diagnostic of rhinosporidiosis. The owner has reported that the dog was well four months after treatment with ketoconazole.
