- Abstract
The article reports on the plan of Kanpur, India-based textile firm Lakshmi Cotsyn to secure retailing contract with international retailers Wal-Mart, IKEA, Li & Fung and Sam Salem & Son. The deal calls for Lakshmi to supply these retail stores with terry towels and bed linen which would tie-up around 30% of their quantity. The Indian firm has decided to increase its current capacity for towels from 3,000 tonnes to 12,000 tonnes, and its bed linen production from the current 12 million metres. To meet its expenses, Lakshmi has raised its foreign currency convertible bonds (FCCB) worth $10 million.
