- Abstract
The IRONMAN® is one of the most popular triathlon events in the world, characterized by being a challenging competition that tests the physical and psychological limits of its participants. In Brazil, the test has been organized in the city of Florianópolis since 2001. The objective of the present study was to carry out a descriptive analysis of the results obtained in IRONMAN® Brazil between the years 2001 to 2019 and analyzes of the difference between performance in females and males. For this purpose, the mean and the standard deviation (SD) of the first 10 times of the general classification of each year was extracted. The average of the total times showed that the second decade of the event was better compared to the first, thus indicating a trend of better future results. This improvement in the general results, mainly in the second decade, and mainly in the last 5 years, may result from factors such as technological advances, better training strategies and an increase in the competitive level of competition.
