- Abstract
The spiritual dimension of nursing care is sometimes undervalued in relation to other dimensions of care. The importance of spiritual nursing care for the relief of suffering is properly established in the literature. We proved this importance in the context of hemato-oncologic disease, through a qualitative study, proved which the spiritual nursing care to relieve the suffering of our participants. We concluded that spiritual nursing care relieves suffering of people with hemato-oncologic disease, because as we saw in the data, the applied interventions reduced the suffering of the participants. All participants reported that care was appropriate for their situation, specifically mentioning a few interventions that were most important to them such as: active listening, facilitation of spiritual growth, spiritual support, conversations (emotional support, encourage hope), massages, relaxation, therapy of reminiscences and guided imagery. The effect of care most frequently mentioned by our participants was the relaxation obtained with assistance provided and then the distraction/recreation associated with the interventions provided by spiritual nursing care. So it was possible to know that spiritual nursing care relieve the suffering of our participants, giving us even the perception of how these interventions were seen by them.
