- Abstract
The aim of this study is to know young soccer players on tactical and technical knowledge. For that reason, fourteen eight-year-old Albacete Balompié players were handed out a game test based on a video recording: Game Performance Evaluation Tool. This instrument was applied through a modified 2 vs. 2 soccer game, which evaluated game performance elements, such as ball control, decission making or execution. Results show that they only perform simple tactics, overusing dribbling and not passing the ball as a means of communication between players. Players obtain better results keeping the ball than advancing towards the opposite goal. Related to defence, the most complex actions are those relative to marking. Tackles are also used in inadequate ways. Children play at an acceptable level and game performance is better in attack than in defence.
