- Abstract
The article discusses the evidence which indicates how prevention of RhD immunization by prophylactic Rh immune globulin (anti-D) might occur. It suggests that the hypothesis of accelerated clearance and destruction of D+ red blood cells is likely to be the main mechanism of action of passive anti-D after consideration of the anatomy and function of the spleen.
