- Abstract
In this article, the author discusses a research by Jingwei Bai and co-workers to increase the bandgap in graphene. He mentions that lack of energy gap between its conduction and valence bands can be a handicap for the semimetal which can be solved by shaping a graphene layer into a mesh which opens up the bandgap large enough for electrical switching. Other ways of increasing bandgap like localization of the electrons at the newly created edges in the graphene layer is mentioned.
