- Abstract
The article presents a study that investigates ambient water quality as criteria for copper protective against olfactory impairment in fish. It has been noted the short-term exposure to low copper concentrations in laboratory waters can cause olfactory impairment in fish. The ambient water quality criteria for protection of aquatic life have been derived from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) biotic ligand model-based copper, which are protective of olfactory impairment.
