Dying safely.

- Abstract
The author reflects on the concept of rapid response systems (RRSs) that were developed to identify and give earlier response to the seriously ill, resulting in improved patient outcome. He says that RRS has reduced the unexpected admissions to the intensive care unit (ICU) and the number of cardiac arrests in both adult and paediatric hospitals. He notes that systems similar to the RRS should be developed to be able to improve pain management and to provide a dignified death to the dying
