- Abstract
The article explores how using online content can improve students' understanding of their ethnic identity. Citing the work of media scholar Cathy Davidson who advocates teaching computer algorithms, the author discusses her work with three Mexican American female bloggers and how they use blogs to produce multimodal representations. Particular attention is given to the importance of ethnic identity to internet users and how the bloggers create online representations of their identity. Other topics covered include cultural criticism, social connections, and diversity.
