- Abstract
The operation, maintenance, and management of irrigation schemes have great importance on agricultural production. Therefore, in recent years, the monitoring and evaluation of irrigation scheme performances have gained its significance. In this study, the Şanlıurfa/Bozova Yaylak Plain Pump Irrigation Scheme operated by the Atatürk Dam Water User Association, which was constructed by the State Hydraulic Works, was taken as the material to evaluate performance. Within the scope of the study, 16 different performance indicators were used under the headings of energy use efficiency, financial viability, and water use efficiency, using data between 2018-2022. According to calculations, the average specific energy value was 0.18 kWh m-3, energy consumption per unit irrigated area was 1279 kWh ha-1, energy consumption per unit irrigated area was 2270 kWh ha-1, energy cost per unit irrigated area was 2602 TL ha-1, energy cost per unit diversed water was 0.19 TL m-3, and the ratio of realized energy cost to total expenditure was calculated as 0.79%. According to the average results of financial viability indicators, the ratio of realized maintenance and repair expenses to realized income was 33%, the expense coverage ratio was 80%, the maintenance and repair expense per unit irrigation water was 0.05 TL m-3, the maintenance and repair expense per unit irrigated area was 707 TL ha-1, and the maintenance expense per unit irrigated area was 375 TL ha-1. The income collection performance was calculated as 63%. According to the irrigation water use efficiency indicators, the average irrigation rate was 56%, the annual amount of irrigation water delivered per unit irrigated area was 6988 m3 ha-1, and the annual amount of irrigation water delivered per unit irrigated area was 12810 m3 ha-1. As a result of the study, it is obtained that water consumption should be reduced and measured due to increasing cost, moreover reneable energy resources can be used.
