- Abstract
The article looks at criminal street gang warfare in the U.S. Section II identifies common perspectives of gang warfare and evaluates the history of gangs. Section III discusses House Resolution 1279 by exploring the change in the definition of the term street gang. Section depicts the abilities of states to handle gang warfare by exploring successful programs launched in both Massachusetts and New York. Finally, Section V concludes that the states are better equipped to control gang violence.
