- Abstract
The article presents information on the initiatives taken by Burlington Industries Inc. to control water pollution in their textile mill based in the U.S. Burlington Industries complex includes 36 company owned and operated treatment facilities. Thirty of these plants are of the modified activated sludge process type. Costs of construction of waste treatment facilities are going up 12 to 15% a year. Burlington processes some 11 billion gallons of water annually in its treatment facilities, in addition to purchasing some 6 billion gallons from municipalities. Burlington has worked closely with the municipalities which provide them waste treatment service.
