- Abstract
Fast and accurate segmentation of anatomical structures for visualisation purposes plays a major role in planning neurosurgical interventions. Especially when employing intraoperative imaging, the available amount of time for segmentation tasks is limited. The common approach of first performing segmentation and subsequently calculating a surface model to visualise the according structures frequently requires several iterations until a satisfying result is achieved. As a more intuitive alternative we developed an interactive segmentation scheme combining GPU-based segmentation with volume rendering, in order to monitor the process in real time. This method was integrated into our neurosurgical planning system MOPS 3D and is currently evaluated.
