- Abstract
This article discusses a case study of a 34-year-old pregnant woman who presented with early-onset fetal growth restriction (FGR). Ultrasound screenings revealed multiple hypoechoic placental cysts, with the largest cyst measuring 5.8 x 4.2 x 3.1 cm. The patient received antenatal corticosteroids and underwent continuous maternal and fetal surveillance. Six days later, due to worsening fetal Dopplers, a Caesarean delivery was performed. The neonate was diagnosed with mild anemia and respiratory distress, requiring a 32-day stay in the neonatal intensive care unit. Placental pathology revealed multiple stages of sub-amniotic cysts, and tests confirmed that the blood from the placental cysts was of fetal origin.
