- Abstract
This article discusses the drowning of British technology entrepreneur Mike Lynch and his daughter on the luxury yacht Bayesian, which was struck by a water column resembling a tornado off the coast of Sicily. Lynch had recently been acquitted of fraud and conspiracy charges related to Hewlett-Packard's acquisition of his company, Autonomy. Lynch was also a co-founder and investor in the cybersecurity firm Darktrace, which has strong connections to the UK and US intelligence communities. The article explores the power and influence of companies like Darktrace in the cyber military-industrial complex, as well as the controversies and scandals surrounding the company. Despite these issues, Darktrace recently announced its acquisition by US private equity firm Thoma Bravo for $5.32 billion.
