Keeping Up With Emergency Department Ultrasound.
- Authors
Regan, Linda
- Abstract
The author reflects on the growing popularity of ultrasound in the emergency medicine (EM) field. She notes the debate surrounding the use of bedside ED ultrasound. She points out that ultrasound as a field requires technical skill, knowledge of how and when to incorporate that skill into everyday practice. She adds that the fascination with ultrasound has impeded residents from achieving efficiency. She believes that there is a need to solidify ultrasound as a fundamental skill within the practice.
