- Title
Why Justice? Which Justice? Impartiality or Objectivity?
- Authors
RASMUSSEN, DOUGLAS B.; DEN UYL, DOUGLAS J.
- Abstract
The article focuses on Amartya Sen's questions of justice, inequality and freedom. Sen's "The IDea of Justice" is being described by Hilary Putnam as the most important contribution when it comes to subjects related to justice following John Rawls' "A Theory of Justice." The author contemplates why is it that justice is among the necessary principles for organizing a society. Sen's view regarding public reasoning and impartiality is also discussed. The author concludes that the view of Sen on public reasoning begs the question as to why public reasoning should be accepted as the way to determine justice.
