The article focuses on efforts being made by organizations in the U.S. to protect native plant and animal species, and the habitats in which they occur. It mentions that these species including snakes, water hyacinths, and invasive plants are used in middle school laboratories for instructional purposes. It highlights how teachers can use these species for instructional teaching without impacting on environment and eco-friendly practice offered by National Science Teachers Association (NSTA).
