- Abstract
The article discusses the relationship between rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and lymphoproliferative disorders. Several data indicates that there is an increased risk of developing lymphoma in RA patients. Some of the factors needed to be considered when assessing the risk of developing malignancy, particularly in association with RA, include chronic inflammation and dysregulation of the immune system. The role played by the tumor necrosis factor and immune system surveillance in neoplasias development are discussed.
