- Title
THE ANGLO-SAXON CHRONICLE FOR 1072 AND THE FORDS OF FREW, SCOTLAND.
- Authors
Breeze, Andrew
- Abstract
The article presents information on the book "The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle." The book describes how, in August 1072, William the Conqueror led levies against Scotland, imposed a naval blockade, and invaded the country by land via "the Ford," thereafter making a treaty with Malcolm Canmore at Abernethy, near Perth, but gaining no advantage from it. The reference to the Ford appears in the Bodleian Library, and the Peterborough Chronicle. There is no difficulty in identifying the Frews with the ford of the 1072 annal.
