- Abstract
This article presents a case study of a patient who developed autoimmune diabetes mellitus and diabetic ketoacidosis after receiving sintilimab therapy for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. The patient had no previous history of diabetes or autoimmune disorders, and there were no other identifiable causes of hyperglycemia. The article discusses the rarity of autoimmune diabetes mellitus as a side effect of immune checkpoint inhibitors, particularly in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma patients. It emphasizes the importance of early detection and proper treatment to prevent complications and calls for further research on the incidence and mechanisms of this condition.
