- Abstract
The article analyzes lung cancer incidence among racial/ethnic groups by U.S. census region. It examines data collected by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR) and the National Cancer Institute's Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Program from 1998 to 2006. Findings show that African-Americans have higher lung cancer incidence and mortality rates than do Caucasians, and that Hispanics had lower lung cancer incidence than non-Hispanics.
