- Abstract
During the development of the War of the Pacific (1879-1884), Peruvian and Bolivian press included in their editions various types of iconography which are susceptible to analyze together with the study and contextualization of the written material that accompanies it. The existing nationalist and warmongering representations there interact and constitute a narrative originated around the war phenomenon. Thus, the newspaper is conceived as a support and place for speeches and representations feedback, reconstructing various facets of the way in which the Peruvian and Bolivian press covered the confrontation. In the article, some examples of the iconography created in allied war press, highlighting its relevance for reconstruction and problematization of the visual culture associated with the conflict of 1879.
