- Abstract
The impacts of ozone precursors (NO2) and meteorological factors on O3 concentration have been researched by continuous observation from 32 air quality monitoring stations in 18 cities and countries over Hainan Province during 2015 to 2018. The results showed that there is a significant positive correlation between O3-8 h (defined as the maximum 8-hour average O3 concentration) and NO2 concentration, with correlation coefficient achieved 0.607, and passed the 99.9% significance test. O3-8 h concentration is the highest in autumn, winter and spring followed, summer has the lowest O3-8 h concentration. Otherwise, O3-8 h concentration is negatively correlated with precipitation, rainy days, relative humidity, sunshine duration and average temperature, and is positively related to wind speed. Among them, precipitation, rainy days and relative humidity have a greater impact on O3-8 h concentration. When regional O3 pollution (defined as≥3 cities and counties with O3-8 h concentration exceeding the standard) occurred in Hainan Province, there still existed a positive correlation between O3-8 h and NO2. Low precipitation and humidity, and long sunshine duration are favorable to occurrence of regional O3 pollution in Hainan Province. Complementary, several regional O3 polluted days occurred when the sunshine duration are less than 4 h/d, which indicated that external transport may also result in the O3 concentration exceeding the standard in Hainan Province.
