- Abstract
The aim of the study was to determine the impact of horse riding recreation and tourism on selected components of the environment in the forests of the Leżajsk Forest District. The analysis was conducted on an 18-km long horse trail, along which a 1-km transect was selected with control points located at every 10 m on both sides of the trail. In this way, 200 points were established to determine: the degree of soil damage, damage to young trees and the degree of littering in the forest. Soil damage was recorded at every second checkpoint, of which 12% was compacted soil. Out of 662 inventoried young trees, 18.7% were damaged. Litter items were found in the field of view in 18.5% of checkpoints. Such a high level of littering, as well as damage to the soil and the young generation of the forest shows that even such a relatively less popular form of tourism and recreation has an impact on the environment.
