- Abstract
The article discusses a study on the impact of land-use on soil nutrients and microbial biomass of an alpine region on the Northeastern Tibetan Plateau in China. The chemical properties and microbial biomass of soils under three land-use types such as natural grassland, crop-field, and abandoned old-field, are analyzed. The study found that soil organic carbon (SOC) lost 45 percent and total nitrogen lost 43 percent due to cultivation for over 50 years.
