- Abstract
The article examines the factors for the unemployment rate in the U.S. and quantifies its potential implications in the future. It argues on the jobless recoveries following the financial crises and the changes in the labor market since the early 1980s. It discusses the implications of past financial crises and the international evidence surrounding banking crises for the future course of the unemployment rate in the country, as well as the similarities of the past severe recessions.
