- Authors
RAJU, GUNTAR ANJANA; KUNDE, RUDRESH R.
- Abstract
The article discusses the importance of developing an initial public offering (IPO) index to monitor the performance of IPOs in India. An overview of the background and current scenario of the country's primary market is presented, along with insights into the significance of an IPO index to the financial market. From January 2005 to March 31, 2007, it was reported that the average returns on the securities listing was 33 percent, with returns being immediately realized days after being floated. The authors describe the ideal efficient market as having prices that would converge to the correct level on the initial day of trading.
