- Abstract
The article presents legal developments in marketing relating to the regulation of product characteristics. Regarding product standards, the United States Supreme Court case State of Washington, et al. v. General Motors Corp. is discussed, involving alleged violations of antitrust laws and the restraint of trade. Regarding packaging and conditions of sale, the United States Supreme Court case Federal Trade Commission v. Sperry & Hutchinson Co. is discussed, in which the United States Federal Trade Commission charged that the company was guilty of unfair trade practices. The case Claudia Designs, Inc. v. American Fashion Home Sewing Council, Inc., et al. is also discussed, involving alleged market exclusion.
