- Abstract
The article presents a research focused on the performing practice of the early music, particularly the vocal music of the Italian Early Baroque era. The central figure of the study is Claudio Monteverdi and ther recitatives in his early operas, especially in Orfeo. The paper discusses the moment of starting a phrase with a vowel. It describes the experience of singing a note on the vowel a, the example being from the entrance of the Messenger in the Orfeo singing Ahi, caso acerbo. It will then discuss some points of view regarding this experience of singing one sound that are relevant for teaching singing and for art.
