- Abstract
Although most allergic reactions to cephalosporins are Type 1 reactions mediated by Igb, delayed immunological reactions to these drugs have also been described. The article presents a case of 64-year old woman with delayed hypersensitivity to cefuroxime. The woman with no personal or family history of allergy, presented with a widespread erythematous maculopapular eruption and lesions on the feet. She had been receiving injections of cefuroxime for acute pyelonephritis. The cutaneous eruption, accompanied by fever, had appeared on the 3rd day of treatment.
