- Authors
van Ketel, W. G.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the case of a surgical assistant, who developed hand eczema 3 months after starting work in an operating theatre. The dermatitis and itching occurred some hours after taking off the rubber gloves. Open and closed immediate-type tests with the ingredients of the rubber series used in the glove were negative. Patch and scratch tests with natural latex were also negative. After disappearance of a delayed-type contact dermatitis from rubber gloves, the patient showed a probable type I contact urticaria. The patient had no personal or family history of atopy.
