- Abstract
The cover picture shows extraction of several valuable elements of the periodic table by DNA hydrogel, which is cut out in the form of a blossom from a Japanese cherry tree and stained with a pink DNA dye, ethidium bromide. In their Communication on page 619 ff., A. Zinchenko and co‐workers outline the application of DNA cross‐linked hydrogel for efficient extraction of noble and rare‐earth metals. They demonstrate that placement of DNA hydrogel into a solution containing AuIII, PdII, or YbIII for several hours yields, in a single step, up to 70% of the metals from the aqueous phase in the hydrogel matrix.
