- Abstract
The article focuses on the occurrence of methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection among newborns in hospital nurseries. While MRSA mainly causes skin and soft tissue infections, it can progress to a more serious condition. A study is discussed which surveyed the outcome of 11 cases of MRSA among infants. The treatment of the infants is discussed, as well as factors such as Cesarean section, gender, and location of skin infection. Suggestions are presented for the prevention of further MRSA spreading in hospital nurseries.
