- Abstract
Academic studies done on social sciences which has a structure of continuity occur as a result of the information which is built on top of one another. To be knowledgeable about the academic studies that have been demonstrated is very important in order to give direction to the researchers. It is possible to say that to evaluate social sciences made in one of the fields of academic work in a holistic perspective assessment will lay the groundwork for original and functional studies in related fields. From this point on in this article, 166 doctoral theses prepared in Turkey in the field of Folklore have been analysed and classified with a holistic perspective and have been arrived at different evaluations in the light of foregoing. In contemplation of examining all the Folklore doctoral theses will exceed the size of an article, only the theses prepared between 2000-2012 were included in the study. This twelve-year period has been chosen consciously because of being a period in which Folklore doctoral theses have increased numerically. In the article first, the development of the Folklore in Turkey has been mentioned briefly, and then in the system of “ the Higher Education Institution and the National Central Thesis”, “Department”, “Subject” and “Directory” categories, “Folklore”, “Folk Literature”, “Turkish Language and Literature” and “folk” keywords determined by using 166 doctoral theses; have been classified according to their years, the universities where they have been done, and their subjects; and then as a result of the classification of graphics have been evaluated. At the end of the article, assessed doctoral theses are presented in a list.
