β-Lactam Therapeutic Drug Monitoring in Critically Ill Patients.
- Authors

- Abstract
The article discusses the findings of recent studies on β-lactam therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) in critically ill patients. Both studies show no significant benefit of TDM on patient mortality or length of stay. While TDM has potential advantages, practical limitations and unknown variables hinder its widespread implementation in clinical practice. The current evidence does not support the broad adoption of TDM in critically ill patients receiving β-lactams.
