- Abstract
The article offers a profile of Ben Edwin Perry, a Janus-figure in the study of ancient prose fiction, who has been the most influential American scholar working on Roman and Greek novels. He has published the book "Ancient Romances: A Literary-Historical Account of their Origins" in 1967 which was noted to be a drastic redirection away from the origins of Greek and Roman novels.
