- Title
New Fecal Occult Blood Test Available for Colorectal Cancer Screening.
- Abstract
The article reports that Beckman Coulter Inc. has introduced Hemoccult ICT, an immunochemical fecal occult blood test used for detecting fecal occult blood as an aid in colorectal cancer screening. Hemoccult ICT uses the 3-day, six-sample testing method, which has been proven to increase the odds of identifying hidden blood in the stool sample. The test employs antibodies that detect the globin portion of human hemoglobin that is specific to lower-GI bleeding and can be an early indicator of colon cancer or other gastrointestinal disease.
