- Abstract
The present work aims to study the phytochemistry and anti-biofouling potential of the mangrove strands of the Avicennia marina. Bioassay-guided active spot purification and GC-MS analysis revealed the existence of two key compounds (> 65%) responsible for the promising anti-biofouling activity. To investigate the phytochemicals, present in the aerial part of the A. marina through GCMS and FTIR. In-silico anti-biofouling property of the selected compounds of A.marina. The approach used by the United States Environmental Protection Agency USEPA, (BIOWINTM, a biodegradation probability programme) used to estimate the detected lead compounds suggests that they are naturally biodegradable.
