- Abstract
Taking advantage of the reaction between chitosan and chromotrope 2B in Clark-Lubs buffer medium which shows a decrease in absorbance at the maximum absorption peak of 516 nm, a fairly new, simple and sensitive fading spectrophotometric method for the determination of chitosan was developed. Optimum reaction conditions and other important analytical parameters for the reaction system were investigated. A concentration range of 1.0-9.0 mg L for chitosan was used in accordance with Beer's Law. The proposed method was applied for the determination of chitosan in different chitosan capsule samples with satisfactory results that agreed with those of the bromophenol blue spectrophotometric method.
