- Abstract
The last part of the book is particularly interesting because the author challenges the view of humankind as superior to the rest of the living world. Species interactions constitute the bulk of the book, and here the authors splendidly explain mathematical models in a digestible way. The author concludes that the value of a species does not stem only from its function within an ecosystem, but that all species, whether native or invasive, beneficial or nuisance, have an intrinsic value that does not depend on humanity's measure of them.
