- Abstract
The article presents information on sources, bioactivities and mechanism of actions of most common plant pigments called flavonoids. It is mentioned that they are a part of human diet and provide nutritional and medical benefits. Flavonoids are a class of nutraceuticals and are preventives rather than therapeutics. Fresh fruits, vegetables and nuts are common sources of flavonoids. These are also found to have anti-carcinogenic properties.
