- Abstract
The article presents an abstract of and a commentary on a study which investigated the robustness of an appearance-focused intervention to prevent skin cancer in people with seasonal affective disorder symptoms and pathological tanning motives. The randomized, controlled clinical trial involved 430 adult female indoor tanners. It was found that the skin cancer prevention intervention was sufficient to reduce indoor tanning. The article also calls on parents and physicians to act on preventing the adverse effects of chronic ultraviolet (UV) exposure.
