- Abstract
The article offers information on a study which investigated the effectiveness of aspirin in preventing cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events in patients with a low ankle brachial index (ABI) identified on screening the general population. The double-blind randomized controlled trial was conducted from April 1998 to October 2008, and enrolled 28,980 men and women aged 50 to 75 years old living in central Scotland. Primary endpoint was a composite of initial fatal or nonfatal coronary event or stroke or revascularization. Presented in details are the research findings.
