- Abstract
The article discusses a study which examined the synthesis of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET)/attapulgite (AT) nanocomposites via in situ polymerization of terephthalic acid, ethylene glycol and AT. According to transmission electron microscopy micrographs, the PET matrix contains well-dispersed AT. Results of the study showed that the crystallization rate and thermal stability of PET can be enhanced by AT. It also found improvement in the storage modulus of the PET/AT nanocomposites.
