Necessary precautions when handling DMDI should be taken, as well as considering including DMDI in isocyanates patch-test series. Keywords: 4,4-methylenebis(cyclohexylisocyanate); CAS no. 5124-30-1; case report; contact dermatitis; DMDI EN 4,4-methylenebis(cyclohexylisocyanate) CAS no. 5124-30-1 case report contact dermatitis DMDI 469 470 2 09/21/21 20211001 NES 211001 Isocyanates have widespread industrial use as coatings, adhesives, paints, and polyurethanes, and they include a wide range of low-molecular-weight potent allergens.1 We present a case of a young industrial worker who developed allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) after short-term exposure to 4,4-methylenebis(cyclohexylisocyanate) (DMDI). Single cases of ACD after only few days of DMDI exposure have been reported,3-5 indicating DMDI as a strong skin sensitizer.
