- Abstract
The article discusses a study which suggests that chronic alcohol exposure may increase susceptibility to the development and/or progression of osteoarthritis (OA). Topics mentioned include the risk factors for OA, the growing evidence indicating that progression of OA is correlated with up-regulation of inflammatory process, and the limitations of the study including the use of an in vivo mouse model of the knee joint to assess the effects of chronic alcohol consumption.
