- Abstract
Para contribuir al conocimiento de especies forestales, se llevó a cabo una investigación en la que se evaluó la calidad fisiológica de las semillas y el desarrollo de las plántulas de Cedro, Tambor, Abarco, Caracolí y Ceiba roja. El trabajo se llevó a cabo durante el año 2018 en casa malla, en la granja experimental de la Facultad de Ciencias Agrícolas de la Universidad de Córdoba. Se utilizó un Diseño Completamente al Azar (DCA) con cinco tratamientos y cinco repeticiones. Las características fisiológicas de la germinación de las especies forestales del trópico presentaron variación significativa. Existe amplia variación en el Porcentaje de Germinación de las cinco especies forestales; los más altos (81-83%) se estimaron en Cedro y Abarco, mientras que los más bajos (42-46%), en Tambor y Caracolí. La germinación más rápida se obtuvo en Ceiba, seguida por Cedro y Abarco, evidenciada en los Índices de Velocidad de Germinación (IVG) de mayor magnitud (1,1-3,3 plantas/d). Igual comportamiento se observó para Germinación Diaria Media (GDM), Valor Pico (VP) y Valor de Germinación (VG). Las diferencias entre semillas de árboles de cada especie, relacionadas con las características fisiológicas de la germinación, obedecieron a variación en el vigor y posiblemente al grado de madurez de las semillas al momento de la recolección. Caracolí fue la más homogénea en los parámetros de la germinación, al no registrar diferencias en IVG, GDM, VP y VG. Las características de las plántulas de las cinco especies forestales variaron significativamente, excepto en la longitud de la raíz principal (LORA). Tambor presentó mayor altura de planta (ALP), seguida por Caracolí, mientras que las de Cedro y Ceiba roja fueron las más bajas. La mayor acumulación de biomasa en plántulas fue para Caracolí, la cual triplicó a la segunda de mayor biomasa, Tambor, mientras que las de menor biomasa fueron Cedro y Abarco. En Tambor se encontraron pocas variaciones en las características de desarrollo de las plántulas. En las cinco especies forestales estudiadas, el PG estuvo asociado significativamente con el IVG, GDM, VP y VG, atributos que determinan la calidad fisiológica de las semillas. La especie forestal en la que las 17 variables estuvieron interrelacionadas y presentaron correlaciones significativas fue Tambor con un total de 65 de 136 (47.8%), mientras que Cedro fue la de menor número de correlaciones significativas, 24 de 136 (17.6%).
