- Abstract
The present work deals with the fluid mechanical analysis of the thrombogenic potential of transcatheter aortic valve prostheses (TAVR) using Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV). One complication that can impair the functionality of TAVR is valve thrombosis. The PIV method allows for the determination of the velocity field of a TAVR and can contribute to the early identification of valve thrombosis. A feasibility study for a stereo-PIV measurement setup is presented to analyze the thrombogenic potential of TAVR. The results of the study provide important insights for the fluid mechanical analysis of TAVR. Recommendations are given for the PIV measurement setup in order to be able to assess the thrombogenic potential of TAVR in a well-founded manner.
